Several of the business owners approached the county attorney, Byron Hirst about the extortion. With the aid of federal employees, the mayor and the others were recorded in their attempt to extort the businesses. Hirst fairly quickly took them to trial, convicted them, and they were sentenced and spent time in the state penitentiary.

“During this annual time of celebration, I am always drawn to the past and I find myself collecting ornaments that remind me of my family and family traditions. From unusual aluminum trees, to the ornaments that we carefully unpack from our attics, the objects we use to decorate mean the world to us.

Learn more about the history of the common, the unusual and the unique that can be found in your attic!.”

Do you have a unique ornament or decoration from your family tree to share? Have one but don’t know where it came from or how old it is? Bring it the luncheon and share with us the tradition of YOUR family holiday decorations!
