Membership & Activities

Become a Cowgirl!
You Don’t Need To Rope & Ride...
Just Have the Western Spirit Inside!

Our membership is widespread and very diverse. It includes women and men whose ancestors homesteaded and settled in the Western Territories in the 19th Century.  We have ranch men & ranch women. We have mothers & fathers, and daughters & sons. We have top ranch hands who still work livestock in the old western tradition.

We have modern “Urban Cowgirls & Cowboys” with office or industrial careers who are just as hard-working! We have former Rodeo Queens, along with Cowgirls & Cowboys who still compete in rodeos and other equestrian events. And, we have “Dudes” who came to the intermountain west on a vacation or business trip, fell in love with the western lifestyle and stayed!

No matter where our members come from, or where they may now live...all of our members recognize the varied contributions that women have made in the settling of the American West. Our Cowgirl members symbolize true western ideals and are very dedicated to the preservation of the roles that pioneering women played in western culture and history. We have both women and men who are members- our male members are called “cowpokes!”

Our membership is open to YOU!  The Annual Contribution is $30.00 per year. We invite you to pardner- up with us and enjoy our programs, activities, and museum visits. We have many members who live out of area, and while they can not attend our year-round programs, they enjoy being a part of the Cowgirls and helping us to preserve the history of women in the American West!

Annual Brunch and Style Show
This is our largest fundraiser of the year. It is held the first Monday of Cheyenne Frontier Days™ at the Little America Hotel in Cheyenne.

The show has become a premier social event and features a brunch, a wonderful fashion show featuring fashions from a local store, a silent auction, a sale of outstanding western jewelry by Trader Barb. Most importantly, each year we honor a person whose life exemplifies and has made contributions to the western lifestyle.

It is a fun-filled morning happening that is a great way to start off the week. For information, call the Cowgirls and stay tuned to local media for ticket information.
